Long description: On the banks of the Wanganui river near Taumarunui an hour and a quarter from Taupo, this roomy self contained studio apartment is detached from the owners house. The unit looks out over a large pool/dam and normally has a great evening rise of both wild brown and rainbow trout. You can literally cast off the front lawn at rising trout. Clay bird shooting can be arranged from outside your front door, and rabbit or turkey shooting is also another great way to fill in your evenings. Spot X provides a friendly, easy going, relaxed atmosphere from which to base your fishing trip to New Zealand and has the advantage of being right on a great river and within 20 minutes or so of several others. From a fly fisherman's perspective Spot X is heaven as you can literally catch wild rainbow and brown trout from the front lawn - they do seem a little selective though and can drive you nuts on the evening rise where they can appear to be everywhere but can sometimes be difficult to hook. Complimentary continental breakfasts are included. Lunches are provided by your guide and evening meals can either be self cater or eat out. There is a restaurant/bar within walking distance and several more 10 minutes away in Taumarunui.
